The External Advisory Governance Board has been established to provide expert oversight and assurance of educational performance relating to the apprenticeship provision and company performance; to ensure continuous and sustainable improvement.

The Role of the External Advisory Governance Board

The primary role of the board is to offer context, challenge and to make comment upon Cavity Training’s overall direction and apprenticeship performance

Olga Bottomley

Governance Lead for Education & Safeguarding

Olga has over 30 years’ experience working within the secondary and higher education sector, as an educational specialist, managing and directing government funded organisations apprenticeships, traineeships, skills academy and Adult Education programmes across a vary of subject sector areas, working with multiple clients, large levy employers, training provider, colleges, universities and community organisation. She has vast experience in leading organisations, managing change, and achieving a positive outcome to build and develop success. With current experience as follows:

  • Extremely experienced, operating at governance level with 5 organisations delivering government funded training.
  • Chairperson and elected Councillor of Burnaston Parish Council for the past 10 year working with local authorise.
  • National Safeguarding Lead.
  • Quality Mentor responsibility for all aspects of operations, compliance, and quality with Apprenticeship provision with T/O £24M providing extensive services to the armed forces.
  • Provide effectively mentoring leadership and management development across a range of organisations.
  • Lead and supported training companies into “good and outstanding provision” (as defined by Ofsted) by successfully achieving Good or Outstanding inspection results.
  • Played an active and hands on role in achieving business startup for a number work-based learning providers and businesses.
  • Developed new apprenticeships and bespoke training programmes to meet customer needs and increase company sales working with sector skills boards.
  • Qualified SFEDI Assessor working with the Princes Trust Business Advisors.
  • Charter Management Institute End Point Assessor delivering end point assessments at strategic level.
  • Held the position of Head Judge and ambassador for 5 years developing and promoting the Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards.

She has been a legal Trustee and Duty Chairperson for the Cadet Vocational College since March 2007, who delivers a vocational education programme to Army, Air and Sea Cadets and all youth uniform organisations across the country, working within private and state schools, as well as providing a service to the local community. This gives me an opportunity to work with the education department and the secretary of state in devising and contributing to the national skills agenda. Worked and has recently retired as an additional Ofsted inspection after 15 years.

Governance Lead for Finance & Risk

Graham is a Director of UK Business Mentoring Group. Here he supports boards and business owners on areas such as business growth, strategy, succession planning, governance, leadership, exit planning and as an executive coach and non-executive director. He has 30 years of experience in banking and financial services across a host of disciplines. Graham is also a visiting lecturing in Banking and Finance working with learners from apprentice to board level across the globe.

He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Banker Institute and a Fellow of the London Institute of Banking and Finance.

In his spare time Graham’s Voluntary work is Vice Chair of Governors at St. Birinus Boys School & Chair of Raw a Social Enterprise based in Oxford.

Emma has 20 years’ experience delivering workplace projects with extensive experience working for global organisations including Royal Bank of Scotland, GSK, Cisco, and Novartis.  She started her career in operations and branch management within commercial removals before moving into move management and change management. She spent 8 years delivering workplace projects for Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and was part of the team that delivered the closure of two of RBS’s prominent Bishopsgate, London offices, relocating 13,000 employees in eight months. 

Having designed and delivered change management programmes to support more than 7,000 people impacted by workplace changes across 10 countries across the EMEA region, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Istanbul, Italy, Spain, Germany, and the UK. 

She is an experienced communicator and excellent at stakeholder management, able to build relationships across all levels of the organisation. A highly capable individual with an adaptable skill set, who integrates well into project teams from day one with a can-do attitude. Her wide and varied experience means she can adapt to projects with ease and can often bring a fresh perspective to new challenges.
