Supporting the Village of Hope: Feeding Program
Our connection to the Village of Hope began with Hayley Bell, a dedicated dental nurse from West Yorkshire and a valued member of Cavity Training’s community. With over 25 years of experience in dental nursing, Hayley has dedicated her free time since 2018 to volunteering in West Africa with various organisations, including Mercy Ships and Iris Global Ministries.
Iris Global Ministries operates in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities, providing essential services, education, and support. In Guinea, Hayley witnessed firsthand the importance of feeding programs in schools and community centres, which provide much-needed nutrition to children who otherwise may not have access to a balanced diet. During her visit, Hayley noticed a lack of fruit in the children’s diet due to limited funding, and thus, the Fruit Feeding Program was born.
The Fruit Feeding Program
The goal of the Fruit Feeding Program is simple yet impactful: to provide a piece of fruit daily for each child in the Village of Hope. This small addition to their diet goes a long way toward improving their overall health and wellbeing. Just £10 per day ensures that every child at the village receives fresh fruit, which Hayley sources from local markets.
Cavity Training has partnered with Hayley to raise the funds needed to keep this program running. Together, we aim to raise £3500 annually to cover the cost of fruit for the village. We invite our learners to join us in supporting this initiative and make a positive impact!
How You Can Help
Start a Collection Box at Your Workplace:
Help us raise money by recycling dental-related waste products through TerraCycle. Here’s how you can get involved:
- Set up a collection box for used dental products at your workplace.
- Collect items such as:
- Used PLASTIC toothbrushes
- Electric toothbrush heads and their packaging
- Floss containers and outer packaging
When you have a collection ready, simply hand it to your Cavity Training Assessor, who will ensure it reaches our Head Office for processing. If you collect over 1 kg of waste at a time, email sharon@cavitytraining.co.uk for a QR code and send it directly to TerraCycle free of charge.
All funds raised through TerraCycle will go toward the Fruit Feeding Program at the Village of Hope, allowing us to make a meaningful contribution to these children’s lives.
Making a Difference Together
At Cavity Training, we believe in the power of community. By working together, our learners, staff, and partners can create real change, from improving lives overseas to reducing plastic waste here at home. Join us in supporting this incredible cause and help make a difference one piece of fruit at a time.
This version encourages learners to actively participate, aligns with Cavity Training’s educational mission, and emphasises the impact of community involvement.
